Saturday, April 19, 2008 is the Lead The Way Lacrosse Day
of Champions. In what is shaping up to be an extraordinary day, we
are trying to deal with many issues so that this day can be both
an exciting day of Lacrosse as well as a successful community
event. Check out the Schedule of Events.
There are still tickets
available but they are getting scarce. You can still buy tickets at
Manhasset Sporting Goods while supplies last . Manhasset
Sporting Goods is located @ 580 Plandome Road in Manhasset,
If you ordered wristbands
online please pick them up at the Manhasset Sporting Goods.
Wristbands will be available there until close of business on Friday.
After that, they can be picked up at the event the day of, however, we
would like to try and eliminate as many will-calls as possible so please
try to pick up your wristbands early. Wristbands can also be bought
at the Manhasset Sporting Goods until close of business on Friday.
We expect to have a limited
number of wristbands available the day of. These will be sold on a
first come basis. They can be bought in the back of the school by
the gym entrance starting at 9:30 AM. Once the game is sold out, no
more wristbands will be sold.
Please wear your wristband
the day of the event.
You will not be granted admission to the games without a wristband.
All attendees and volunteers need wristbands so make sure you have
purchased them. Players playing that day and the team coaches and
trainers do not need wristbands. Everyone else does.
Manhasset High School is
located @ 200 Memorial Place in Manhasset. Click here for a "bird's eye view"
of the area. The Stadium is located in the back of the high school
- its southeastern most point. Parking will be available @ the
Manhasset LIRR Station lots (there are 3 lots) on Manhasset Avenue.
This is a short walk to the high school. Parking will also be
available at the Town of North Hempstead Town Hall lots located behind
the Town Hall on Andrew Street. This is also a short walk up
Manhasset Avenue to the High School. There will also be parking at
the Manhasset Park District lots on George Street and on Locust Place ~
all pleasant walks to the High School. If you are completely
baffled that day, call Manhasset Sporting Goods @ 516-365-6220 and we
will direct you as best we can.
One item that will surely be an issue, regardless of how
well we plan, is parking. The entire Manhasset High School Campus will be
off-limit for parking except for those who are either working the event
or playing in the event. This is necessary so we can guarantee
access to the school for emergency vehicles, team buses and other
necessary individuals. There will be a list at the entrance of the
school for those allowed to park on campus. Unless your name
is on the list, you will not be allowed to park on campus.
As a result, we encourage all local Manhasset residents to
please use one of the following means of transportation when attending
the event:
1. It is suppose to be a beautiful day so if
possible, please consider walking to the event.
2. Think of alternative transit solutions to arrive at the
event. For example, park at the Plandome, Port Washington or Great
Neck Train stations and take the train to the event. For those from
other areas, please consider using the LIRR Port Washington branch. The
high school is a short walk from the westbound end of the platform.
3. If you must drive, try to car-pool. Many
residents are planning on attending so try to coordinate with friends and
family so we can reduce the number of cars attending the event.
4. If all else fails, drive to the event but please
be patient and obey the instructions from the volunteers who are offering
their time to direct traffic to various lots around town. If you drive,
remember two things, first, we cannot guarantee parking for anyone, it is
strictly first come first serve. Second, all of the lots for
parking are off campus, so plan on walking from your car to the school.
When planning your arrival time, please plan around this. Do not
expect to leave your house at quarter to 12 for a 12 o'clock game - you
will not be there in time.
We want this day to be
enjoyable for everyone, so please be patient and allow extra time to
arrive on campus. Here is the Schedule of Events.
